Now that the leader of Westminster City Council, Colin Barrow, has resigned perhaps the "mute Conservative Councillors" will now have the guts to stand up and throw out these parking proposals once and for all.

The Evening Standard, the Labour opposition leader Paul Dimoldenberg and the lone conservative councillor Glenys Roberts should all be congratulated for being the ones that politically converted re-action into pro-action.

Richard Caring should also be thanked for his backing when there where others of far more political influence who remained on the sidelines.  Political "Grandees" were slow to take up the baton but once up to speed helped move this issue up the agenda.

The West End is the power house of central London and the council should have realised that their proposals was a denial of access to the heart of London plus a weak attempt to raise income.

If Mr Barrow is now doing the honourable act of falling on his sword could he please put his house in order before doing so.
